Planning a trip to Spain: collecting documents for the Spanish Embassy

There is a large flow of tourists from Russia in Spain today. Many of them, wanting to save money, buy last-minute deals. In this case, you need to approach obtaining a Spanish visa very carefully so that any trouble does not lead to the cancellation of your vacation.

To obtain a visa to the Basque Country, you must provide the following documents:

  • Application form (2 copies)
  • 2 photos
  • A valid international passport (its validity period must be at least 90 days after the expiration of the visa)
  • Copies of all pages of the passport
  • Originals and copies of all other international passports (including cancelled ones)
  • Copies of all pages of the internal (Russian) passport
  • A ticket with a closed return date
  • Invitation from the hotel (reservation)
  • Insurance for the entire period of the trip
  • A certificate from the place of work (or study for students) indicating income
  • A certificate from the bank or an account statement on the availability of a sufficient amount of funds or a certificate of purchase of euros

For foreign citizens living in Russia, it is also required to provide a document confirming their official residence in the country (with the exception of citizens of certain countries).

If a child travels to Spain with or without one parent, a notarized permission from the other parent or both parents is required.

With the help of additional documents, you can increase your chances of receiving a positive response from the Spanish embassy. These documents must confirm your financial viability and independence, including documents on ownership of real estate and other documents confirming your financial stability. If you have additional official income both in the Russian Federation and abroad, then documentary evidence of these incomes will be in your favor.

Another important factor that can influence the decision is your marital status. Having a marriage certificate and proof of having children (birth certificate) significantly reduces the likelihood that you will marry a Spaniard and stay in the country.

Experienced travelers recommend using other arguments that confirm your strong ties with Russia – from certificates of illnesses of your parents or next of kin to other documents. However, all information provided must be reliable, as it will be verified. In case of disclosure of fraud, obtaining a visa may not be possible.

Acceptance of documents from individuals for a “C” visa (tourist visa, guest visa, visa for property owners, etc.) is carried out in the visa centers of Spain, which are located in a number of major Russian cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg. In most centers, documents can be submitted without an appointment from 9 a.m. to mid-afternoon. In case of a positive decision, the visa can be collected in a week (5 working days).

Documents from individuals for a “D” visa (work visa, study visa, family reunification), as well as documents from accredited travel agencies, are accepted at the consular department of the Embassy of Spain. The deadline for consideration in the latter case is 7 working days today.

To clarify the composition of the package of documents and the terms of consideration of the application, you can visit the website of the Spanish Embassy in Moscow or contact the manager of an accredited travel company.
